About Dr Mario Bukelo

Dr Mario is a  paediatrician and neonatologist  based in Mangalore.

Dr Mario’s motto is to give quality care services to the vast number of neonates that he helps to resuscitate everyday. The need to meticulously follow-up the growth and development of these term, preterm and high risk newborns prompted Dr. Mario to start a quality newborn and paediatric care clinic which is presently located at Athena Hospital, Falnir, Mangalore.

The clinic is located in the heart of the city, with a spacious comfortable waiting area, daycare center and a breast feeding room. It is equipped with full-fledged laboratory and scanning services.  The clinic also caters to the immunization needs of infants, children, adolescents, adults and travelers. All vaccines at the center are stored and administered after following the guidelines set by the World Health Organisation (WHO). Dr Mario takes personal care in order to maintain the cold chain to procure and maintain vaccines. He also personally vaccinates all the children after paying due diligence to aseptic precautions.

With a passion for treating newborns, pre-terms and high risk babies, Dr Mario did his fellowship in neonatal medicine which was accredited by ECMS and EM-Australia. To add further finesse to the precious premies that he handles everyday, he also completed his one year advanced neonatal training  in point-of-care neonatal Ultrasound, functional echo-cardiography and cranial ultrasound. With all his training and his vast experience he is known for the precision care that he offers to all his premies and high risk newborns.

Dr Mario has also done a post graduate program in paediatric nutrition from the Boston University School of Medicine, Massachusetts, USA.  He is also an Early nutrition specialist certified by the Ludwig-Maximilian university, Germany. With this he is able to successfully guide new mothers to exclusively breast feed their newborns. He also been able to successfully train mothers in complementary feeding with home based foods.
